Design (Interactive Media)
WHY
TAKE MULTIMEDIA DESIGN?
The NCFE Certificate in Multimedia Design provides you with skills in
image, video and audio manipulation, as well as in how to 'author' these
elements (meaning, to create an interactive presentation).
WHAT
ARE THE KEY AREAS OF STUDY?
You will learn how to plan your ideas before producing and developing
a wide range of media types using a number of sophisticated industry
standard computer software packages. This will include learning how
to use Adobe After Effects for video manipulation, Adobe Photoshop and
Illustrator for still image editing, and media-authoring packages to
bring interactivity to the presentation. This is then, for final distribution,
put to a CD / DVD, or uploaded as a Flash or HTML Website.
WHAT
SKILLS WILL I NEED AND DEVELOP?
You should bring to the course an understanding of how to use a computer
and have a reasonable appreciation of Art and Design or Graphics. The
course is ideal for candidates who have an interest in Multimedia and
wish to develop these skills with a view to accessing Higher Education
in the direction of interactive media or graphic design. On the course,
you will produce a visually exciting interactive curriculum vitae that
will assist your application either into university or industry.
ARE
THERE ANY SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS I NEED?
You will need to have an interest in Multimedia and have at least a
grade C GCSE in an Art and Design subject or the equivalent.
HOW
WILL I BE ASSESSED?
The course is assessed on the successful completion of a practical outcome
and its supporting coursework, which comprises optional and mandatory
units of work. The first year Level 2 Intermediate qualification (worth
2 GCSEs) consists of three mandatory units plus one optional unit. The
second year Level 3 Advanced qualification (worth 1 A Level) consists
of four mandatory units plus one optional unit.
